Cyprus and Greece pond safety 
IT'S A WELL-KNOWN FACT THAT YOUNG CHILDREN CAN DROWN IN AS LITTLE AS 10cm OF WATER. In the UK alone, over 140 children under the age of 5 have drowned in pond accidents since 1992.
Drowning accidents like this happen because young children associate water with playtime and fun. They have no concept of danger. Many parents also don't appreciate the risks which ponds pose and believe that:
- "It won't happen to us".
- "We look after our kids properly".
- "Our pond is not that deep".
- "Our kids don't go near the pond".
Despite these erroneous perceptions, children have drowned, and continue to drown, in unprotected ponds. Now, with the advent of the AthenaDeck pond safety system, pond drowning accidents are completely avoidable.
HERE'S HOW THE ATHENADECK POND SAFETY SYSTEM WORKS
1. AthenaDeck pond cover comprises strong black plastic grids (59 x 49cm) which are clipped into place on black aluminium beams. The beams are then suspended in the pond on PVC support legs, whose length is determined by the depth of water.
2. The grid panels and beams are cut to shape to provide a perfect custom fit all the way around the pond. The grids are secured to the beams, and to each other, using childproof retaining clips. By removing the clips, individual grids can be removed to allow access to the pond. Alternatively, it may be possible to remove the whole deck structure in one piece.
3. The support legs are cut to suit the depth of water in the pond. The customer can choose whether the grids are to be positioned just above the water surface (least risk), or just below the water surface (greater risk, but reduced visibility).
4. The black lattice grid panels are lightweight and easy to cut. This allows complete customisation for all shapes of pool, whether square, rectangular, round, oval or kidney-shaped. Other features of the system are:
- The triangular holes within each grid are designed to allow most plants and fish to exist normally, while at the same time preventing a child's head from penetrating the water.
- The beams are powder-coated for long life.
- All components are UV-stable for long life.
- The system has been tested to withstand the falling weight of an average 8 year old child. As you will see from the photo alongside, AthenaDeck will normally support the weight of an adult.
- In addition to helping prevent child drownings, AthenaDeck can protect Koi carp and other fish stocks from cats and predatory birds (eg. herons).
5. Warranty: Our AthenaDeck comes with a conditional 5 year warranty.
